School Planning Representative Needed
Posted by Webmaster in School District on March 9, 2010
The Southern Berkshire Regional School District set a goal to ensure upgrades and preventative maintenance to the district’s infrastructure, and to make sure that things are planned and implemented in a responsible, environmentally sound manner.
They wish to assemble a 9-member Long Range Capital Planning Committee during Fiscal Year 2010, drawing members from town officials, school committee members, school administrators and residents. They will develop a draft 5-year capital improvement plan by June 30, 2010.
The district is seeking a representative from the town of Alford to be a part of this committee. For more information, read the following PDF file. Contact Debbie Blackwell at the Town Offices if you are interested in this position.
Thomas Doyle Not Seeking Re-Election
THOMAS K. DOYLE, SR.
147 EAST ROAD
ALFORD, MA 01266
February 22, 2010
Dear Fellow Citizens, Selectboard Members, Other Elected Officials and Employees of the Town of Alford.
I am announcing my decision this evening to not seek re-election as a Selectman in May, 2010. Also, I will not accept a nomination or serve, if elected, by write-in ballot for the upcoming term. It was an honor to first be elected to this office in 2002 to replace the late Chairman, Clyde S. Brown. I have enjoyed working on behalf of the town on several fronts.
I first became involved in the Town of Alford in the late 1990’s when I was appointed an Associate Member of the Conservation Commission. I worked with fellow Associate Member, Michael Wilcox, and the full commission to bring about the successful passage in Alford of the Scenic Mountain Act.
As many of you know, I have several other commitments to local organizations in the near-term, personal business matters will demand more time than they have in recent years.
I look forward to a vibrant election process to produce, hopefully, several candidates for elective positions in May. I thank all who have supported me in previous elections. I wish all, involved in serving the Town of Alford, well in their continuing service.
Yours truly,
Thomas K. Doyle, Sr.
